Can I use Springnote with any browser?

Currently, Springnote does not support all web browsers.

Some features may not function If you are using any Internet browser that is not officially supported by Springnote.

Browsers that are officially supported by Springnote

Internet Explorer 6.0
Internet Explorer 7.0
The latest Firefox (currently version 3.X)

We are currently working on Safari 3.0, but it is not working stable enough as with Firefox.

Also, Opera support has been put on hold due to the bugs within itself that does not allow typing Korean while writing/editing text in Springnote.

Browsers such as Maxthon that are made of engines (e.g., Trident, Gecko) from Internet Explorer or Firefox are not recommended due to keyboard shortcut and saving errors.

Why not all the browsers are supporting Springnote

Although it would be nice to have Springnote fully functional with all browsers, the problem is that there are...

a great amount of browsers that each have their own rendering engines along with custom settings
functionality differences and different types of bugs that exist in each type of browser.

Our development process and progression would be greatly slowed down if we were to fully support each available browser. Therefore, we have choose to support browsers Internet Explorer 6.0, Internet Explorer 7.0, Firefox 2.0, and Firefox 3.0 based on user preference. We are trying our best to support more browsers to satisfy the needs of our users.

Images can be inserted from the toolbar located on the top portion of the page, click [Image] the [Insert] button.

Add images from your computer

By clicking the [Add Files] button from the dialog box that appears, you can insert images that are saved on your computer.

By holding the Ctrl key when you select images, you upload more than one file. Your selected files will be uploaded simultaneously.

Inserting an image from an external source (URL)

You can insert images that are not saved on your computer by inputting the web URL of the image. You can also preview the image by clicking the [Preview] button.

You can also save the image directly to the page by clicking 'save the image to this page' before inserting.

Image Text Flow

By right clicking an inserted image, you can set the way text flows around the image.

First insert an image to the page.c
Hover the mouse cursor over the image and right click the image for the menu to appear.
You can choose from 'No flow', 'Place image left', and 'Place image right'

Insert a link to an image

Select 'Insert link' from the menu.

Input the link URL into the dialog box that appears as shown below.

Springnote's Transformation Story - Chapter 3 / Part 1 [ Link UI ]

Hey everyone~ =)

It's already chapter 3 of Springnote's transformation story. : )

In our last release we previewed improvement on the link UI as well as multi-uploading.

We actually wanted to speed up the process and release the new link UI, so we have called this chapter 3 part 1.

(The remaining items previewed for chapter 3 will be released soon in chapter 3 part 2 =) )

When asked what Springnote's strongest point is... what comes to mind?

As for me, the formation of pages through the use of links comes to mind first.

However, with strange wording and organization we've realized that it may have caused much confusion when actually trying to use links.

Therefore we have listened to your comments and opinions on how to improve linking and now we have finally modified it.

Let's now look at what's changed : )

Addition : Link edit / remove feature

We've realized what a hassle it has been for users not being able to modify their links.

Now after you have created a link, by just moving the cursor over the link, a small dialog box will appear that will allow you to edit or remove the link.
Linking - Now simplified and more convenient
- Instead of having to switch between tabs on either you are trying to link to another Springnote page or an outside page, we have put this together. So you can now either type in a web URL or just type the title of a Springnote page.
- We have also added a button 'Find a Page' to locate pages from your page hierarchy so that you don't have to remember the names of your pages.
Addition of Option to Open Link in a New Window

With many requests on adding this feature, we now support setting links to open in a new window.
- When creating a link, click the [option ▼] button to expand the dialog box and choose whether you want the link to open in a new window or not.
- By clicking the button when you hover over a link, you can also set preexisting links to open in a new window.

Springnote provides a search field on top of the Page Navigation Panel to find any page containing a specific word or phrase. Even if you are not sure of the exact title of your page, you can find the page with typing some letters of the title. While you type letters it will be automatically recommended search results by searching page titles, context and as well as the context of attached files.

ex) The image below is shown all related pages when the letters 'st' are typed.

Find the page you want in the list and click the name to move to the page.

ex) The image below is shown all related pages when the letters 'page' are typed in Edit Mode.

If there are no matching words, there will be no recommended results displayed. In this case, you can click the search icon and then see the search results.

Renaming Page Titles

To rename a Page Title,

First, locate the Page Title on the top left corner of the Page Editing Space.
Next, simply click the Page Title or the Rename button for the background to change into an orange color.
Type in your new Page Title and click the Rename button or hit the Enter key on your keyboard for the new title to be applied.

Note: Changing the Page Title will not effect the physical URL of the page.

Print

Although there might be times where you want to print a page that includes everything shown on your screen (Toolbar, Page Navigation Panel, etc.) by using 'Print' from your browser, there are other times where you just want to print the main content of your page. Springnote provides a special printer friendly version of a page so that you can print out only the page without unnecessary parts.

click the Menu button located on the upper right side of the page.

You will see a dialog box as shown below.
click 'Print' for another window (or tab) to appear with a printer friendly version of the page you are viewing.
