2. Creating a Springnote Account

Registering for a Springnote account is a simple, painless process that literally takes only a few seconds to do. Once account registeration is complete, you can create notebooks and start enjoying Springnote. Now let's get started.


Do you have an OpenID?

Springnote supports OpenID authentication (learn more). Users that have an existing OpenID may use it to register for a Springnote account and use it as their Sign In ID. Users that do not have an OpenID can still sign up and have Springnote create an OpenID through myid.net.


OpenID ?

OpenID is a decentralized, free and open standard that allows Internet users to log on to many different web sites using a single digital identity, eliminating the need for a different user name and password for each site. Springnote supports both OpenID authentication 1.0 and 2.0. OpenID is gaining popularity from many organiziations like AOL, BBC, Microsoft, Google, IBM, VeriSign, and Yahoo! among many other organizations acting as providers.


Using your existing OpenID

Registering your existing OpenID for a Springnote account is simple and can be done from any Sign In area.


  • From Springnote's homepage (http://www.springnote.com/en) .

    Input your existing OpenID in the area outlined in red to connect to your OpenID provider. From your OpenID provider's website, input the required information to complete registration.

  • From the Global Navigation Bar
    Input your existing OpenID in the area outlined in red to connect to your OpenID provider. From your OpenID provider's website, input the required information to complete registration.

  • Once you have finished, you will see the following screen.

Signing Up without an OpenID

Springnote supports OpenID authentication. Users that have an existing OpenID may use it to register for a Springnote account and use it as their Sign In ID. For users that do not


Signing up for a Springnote account can be done from either Springnote's homepage or from the Global Navigation Bar while in Springnote.


Registering your existing OpenID for a Springnote account is simple and can be done from any Sign In area.

  • From the Global Navigation Bar
    Input your existing OpenID in the area outlined in red to connect to your OpenID provider. From your OpenID provider's website, input the required information to complete registration.

  • From the screen (right), fill in the required information for Springnote to automatically create an OpenID for you from OpenID provider myid.net (learn more). Your selected User ID will become your Sign In ID (ex., username.myid.net).

  • Once you have finished, you will see the following screen. From here, click the Create a notebook button to create your first notebook (learn more).
